Federation family gathers to fast from indifference, act in hope
On January 7, over 130 sisters, associates, staff, and friends of the Federation gathered on Zoom for a prayer service focused on the theme, Fasting from Indifference, Acting in Hope.
This event was held in response to an invitation from the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) for member congregations and friends to hold a day of prayer and action for justice. During the prayer service, participants took time to lament the pain in our world and to be nourished by divine hope. Participants also learned about the global push for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and committed to sign on in support of the effort.
Following the service, one participant shared that the gathering was helpful in, “reminding us who we are and on whose shoulders we stand.” Another shared that she sees, “a real need for this so that we remain in solidarity and advocacy in each of our communities.”
