The Convocation of the Vincentian Family in Rome November 14-17, 2024 was a gathering of Faith, Unity, and Service. More than 300 members of the Vincentian Family from five continents came together for the opening of the Second International Convocation of the Vincentian Family. This event marked the beginning of four days dedicated to reflection, dialogue, and collaboration, all with the goal of strengthening their shared commitment to serving those in need. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as participants reunited with brothers and sisters who share the same charism passed down from Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Louise de Marillac. Sister Margaret Mary Fitzpatrick was interviewed by the Vatican News.
One of the highlights of the Convocation was a meeting with our Federation and the Vincentian Sisters of Charity German Federation. Sisters gathered to share ideas/wishes for the future and how things should continue with both federations. Small group conversations resulted in the following suggestions to be explored together in the future:
- UN Advocacy: Jimmy will share UN communications with Strasburg Federation, meet frequently with ministries not only for education but to share experience and Jimmy will work closely with communicators focused on trafficking and housing.
- Formation of Laity and Religious: Invite two sisters to attend (from the other Federation) the annual meeting to share what is being done in each Federation at that annual Federation meeting.
- Communication Network: being a resource for one another using a Zoom meeting, use a director to clarify where we live and serve, connect two Executive Directors to meet and discuss the possibilities.
- What does our world need from us: we need to be more contemplative to hear what God wants us to be doing, people need to feel valued as human beings, your ministry is where your shadow falls.
