Lenten Video Reflections

Christians worldwide are anticipating the liturgical season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6. But what does it really mean to observe 40 days of Lent in 2019? What is the relevance today of the traditions and practices of fasting and almsgiving? How does prayer work into all of this?

The Sisters of Charity Federation is hosting a series of online video reflections during Lent, beginning Sunday, March 10. Sisters and Daughters of Charity will go live on the federation’s Facebook page to share their perspectives and insights on prayer, fasting and almsgiving during the Lenten season. Audience participation is welcomed, encouraged, and eagerly anticipated!

Talks will be given in English and begin at 9 p.m. Eastern. This year’s schedule:

  • Sunday, March 10: Prayer — Sister Kara Davis, DC (Daughters of Charity Province of St. Louise)
  • Monday, March 11: Fasting — Sister Rejane Cytacki, SCL (Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth)
  • Tuesday, March 12: Almsgiving — Sister Celine Belliveau, NDSC (Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur)
  • Wednesday, March 13: Wrap-up — Sister Annie Klapheke, SC (Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati)
